Ambassador Alfred UyAapo Majaye Dube a distinguished former Diplomat from Botswana is an invaluable asset to the Squadron team, providing vital support for continued growth in the international and emerging markets.

Ambassador Dube has an outstanding record of achievement representing Botswana’s interests on the world stage via 17 ambassadorships including appointments in the UK and China and 3 years as Botswana’s Permanent Representative at the United Nations in New York. During this time Ambassador Dube concurrently served as non-resident Ambassador to Cuba and High Commissioner to Jamaica & Guyana and also served as a member of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Executive Board.

During his six year appointment as the Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, Ambassador Dube concurrently served as the non-resident (NR) Ambassador to both North & South Korea (1997-2002); NR Ambassador to Japan (1996-1998) and NR High Commissioner to Malaysia and Singapore (1996-2002).

Ambassador Dube has also held positions as the High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Ambassador to Sweden and Non-Resident Ambassador to Denmark, Norway & Finland.

Secretary General Kofi Annan previously offered Mr. Dube the position of Under-Secretary General/Special Advisor On Africa at UN Headquarters.

Ambassador Dube was selected by two Presidents to advise on Botswana’s foreign policy, foreign trade and economic cooperation, also appointed special envoy by His Excellency President Festus Mogae to lead Botswana’s economically pivotal ‘Diamonds for Development’ campaign in the United States and Europe.

In February 2012 Ambassador Dube was invited by Secretary of State Hilary Clinton to Washington, as Botswana’s representative, to participate in a Business Summit with Fortune 500 Companies, and to give an African perspective on issues at hand. Ambassador Dube subsequently worked with the American Ambassador in Botswana and was asked to establish an American Chamber of Commerce. AmCham Botswana was launched on August 2012. Ambassador Dube currently serves as President of AmCham Botswana, and Chair of the Executive Board.

After completing a 3-year Ambassadorship at the United Nations, Ambassador Dube retired from Botswana’s diplomatic service in 2006 to take up appointments in the private sector and to continue to promote the interests of Botswana and Africa both regionally and internationally.

Maurice Tempelsman, the renowned American diamentaire Chairman of Lazare Kaplan International (LKI), headquartered New York, invited Ambassador Dube to become Managing Director of Lazare Kaplan Botswana.

Ambassador Dube was appointed Non-Executive Director of Barclays Bank, Botswana in 2010 and serves on BBB’s Credit & REMCO committees.

Head, Economic Affairs Unit, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Botswana.

Ambassador Dube is a member of the Advisory Council of Botswana / Harvard Partnership on HIV Aids Research and Education and is passionate about his on-going involvement in the fight against Aids.

Ambassador Dube graduated with honours form the University of Essex, United Kingdom.
