Mr. John A Derby is a Canadian citizen, he has more than twenty five years experience in the investment banking and venture capital business, primarily in Canada, the Caribbean, Central and South America. Mr. Derby has founded and or developed more than a dozen companies in Canada and Latin America. The vast majority of these companies were successfully brought to market as IPO’s; the combined value of these companies approaches $2 billion dollars.
In 1998 Mr. Derby founded a brokerage firm in the Cayman Islands. The Cayman Islands firm was licensed and regulated by the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority. Under Mr. Derby’s management and leadership, the firm established a reputation of high integrity and responsibility. Mr. Derby sold his firm to a global money manager in 2003.
Mr. Derby resides in Panama and overseas Squadron’s Latin American equity and loan operations. Mr. Derby holds ownership, management and executive roles in a number of private entrepreneurial endeavors in Central and South America. These projects range from a coffee venture to gold exploration, development and production.
Mr. Derby is a B.A. graduate from the University of Victoria.
